Azerbaijan sends youngest finalist - Safura to the ESC 2010

Safura won the Azerbaijani national selection final, however the jury could not make up their minds as to what song Safura will sing in Oslo on 27th May during the second semifinal of the Contest.
According to the Head of Azerbaijani Delegation Adil Kerimli, all 4 songs presented during the national final were outstanding and performed very strongly, so the jury decided to scrutinize the professional studio recordings of the songs prior to choosing the winner. The intrigue is expected to be resolved on 19th March when the winning song will be announced.

All 4 songs participating in the Azerbaijani national final were written by well-known European and American songwriters:

Under My Skin - Written by Stefan Orn/ Phil Anquetil

Safura, the winner of the Azerbaijani national selection, will now go to Ukraine for a training period and preparation for the album recording. Afterwards Safura will travel to Sweden to record an album with Swedish partners who will participate extensively in the album recording. Tentatively in two weeks Azerbaijani representative will be back to Kiev again to shoot the music video for the future smashing hit and work on the staging for the Contest.

Who is Safura Alizadeh?

She is only 17 years old but her spirit is strong and she is committed enough to succeed. Safura is already a winner - for now in the Azerbaijani national selection for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. She was born September 20th 1992. Safura comes from the family of creative people. Her father is a painter and her mother is a pianist and a fashion designer.

Thanks to here parents Safura started to show an extreme interest for fashion since early childhood. She showed her offbeat growing talents in fashion design while working on the very first stage outfits which she created with her mother's help.

Surely Safura’s main talent is music and her true life’s passion is singing. She started to sing at the age of three. At six she had a first stage performance. And ever since then she always is trying out in different competitions. She is a winner of Azerbaijani talent show Yeni Ulduz 7 which is analog of worldly famous Pop Idol show. Safura is a young sex symbol of Azerbaijan. This red-blooded young woman has a perfect combination to represent Azerbaijan - the Land of Fire. She is self-confident, stylish and talented person.

Safura graduated from musical school where she played violin, though she always dreamed about playing saxophone. And if you want something very bad, you go ahead and do it. So now Safura is the only female celebrity in Azerbaijan who can play this tough instrument! Soon she is ready to show her talent to the whole Europe at Eurovision Song Contest.

The participation in Eurovision 2010 is a dream comes true for her. For now it is a main purpose of her life. Safura is used to be an achiever since childhood. So she won’t give up her dream no matter what. The main European stage is waiting for her along with the greatest chance of a lifetime as starting point in her singing career.

Safura is working very hard and learning new things every single day. She is singing and dancing. She is learning and creating. She is dreaming and hoping for her words to be heard. She is dedicating all her free time between rehearsals to fashion. Her favorite designers are Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Jan Pol Gaultier and Mark Jacobs.

Safura is a huge fan of a Twilight saga. She read all Stefany Mayers’ books. She is following all the news from the movie set of this modern story of Romeo and Juliet as well as actors personal life. She adores Robert Pattison who is playing the handsome vampire Edward. Maybe Safura is singing about him? Go figure!

Anyway, while waiting to meet Robert Pattison in real life, Safura is fully dedicated to Eurovision 2010. The main goal for her right now is to show all the love she has in her with the very special song. She is ready to share her deep youthful emotions to the millions of people around Europe.
